A few healing questions, possibly deep ones.

  • Posted on October 1, 2011 at 9:13 am
ive got 2 serious questions when it comes to healing.
i need to know how to cure ibs and fibromyalgia.
ive been throwing energy at them for months and you know.
some times it gets better sometimes nothing happens.
i think it is harder because its not on me.
i suspect i would have a easier time if it was.
i swear i get frustrated when i can do nothing and some1 i care for and love deeply, is in serious pain.
and when i fail, i feel like a glorified headache healer.

maybe its the technique, i could be going about it the wrong way.

any help would be a major thanks.

psychic counseling skepticism

  • Posted on August 15, 2011 at 3:18 pm
Until about 3 weeks ago, I've never been to a psychic of any kind. I was always skeptical about them. My momsuggested I speak to one about a problem I've been having. The lady I've been speaking with talks a lot, she doesn't hesitate or think of what she's going to say very much, it just sort of flows. My mom paid for this service for me, but I've still been skeptical. The lady has been having me meditate with a quatz for about the past 10 days on various things; patience, faith, trust, balance, etc. Today, she suggested that we do a "deeper" type of meditation. She said it would involve certain candles and crystals and it would cost $100 for each set... and I'd need two. So $200... I'm still skeptical. I want to believe her, but my rational mind is telling me "this is BS". So! I thought I'd bring this to the pros. What do you guys think? To me, it's been sounding too" foo foo", but I also don't really know what's involved here. I have an open mind. I'm just wondering if I should spend the dough. 200 seems like a lot for candles and crystals.

Good shamanic practice?

  • Posted on July 26, 2011 at 7:11 pm
My friend is in need of some serious psychological surgery, and I think a good shamanic ritual will at least aid him. He's extremely depressed and self conscious, and I used to be like that but mysticism has changed me so I imagine I can use it to help heal his faults. We will both be high for this. Reason is I need to be most effective and he needs to be the most open.
the rite is ceremonial/shamanic.

1. Banish
2. Empower the space with my spiral of empowerment
3. Invoke fire.
4. Invoke the sun
5. Trance rattling/dancing, chanting, etc. Intend to invoke tzeentch, and than bless with solar energies.
6. Make a final blessing of solar energies on him after I've stopped trancing, this way I have gnosis from both exhaustion and recovery.
7. Banish and close.

I was thinking about utilizing a ritual mask to 'scare the evil spirits away'. I want to do this rite in a naturey place like the woods.

Neti Pot

  • Posted on June 22, 2011 at 7:43 pm
I think this goes in healing for it involves better health.

So I have this book about Kriya Yoga and it recommends getting a neti pot so I can breath through both nostrils.

I am going to assume seeing yoga is a major spiritual practice here on the forums that there are people who have knowledge of this and could give me recommendations of where to buy one and what type would be best?

Recommendations for guided meditation / visualisation in audio form?

  • Posted on April 14, 2011 at 2:22 pm
Does anyone know of a good series of guided meditations or visualisation exercises that I could get hold of in the form of downloadable audiobooks? Any file format will do - I can convert. I'll take whatever I can get but ideally they should be relaxing but also engaging or pleasing enough to be worthy of repeating...daily.

Someone I know is stressed & frustrated to the point of having a minor crisis. The cause is being dealt with but will take time. For now I suggested one of the things they could do to cope is learn to meditate but they hated the idea, saying it would be another thing they should do that would stress them out. I suggested guided meditation or visualisation exercises on audiobook and they liked the sound of that a lot more.

I used to have chakra meditations on audiobook but that was 15 years ago. I have no idea what is out there now or whether it is good.

Best book(s) on crystals?

  • Posted on April 13, 2011 at 3:35 am
Hi sweety-pies, i've decided I wish to learn the healing art of working with crystals. There is so much books out there on crystals, quite a few mostly fluff, i suspect. So i thought where better to ask then a occult forum. What book or resource do you use?

I suppose the more important aspects for me are the methods for healing and how to get the most out of the practise and relating to the planets and spirits, rather than listing all different varieties . I don't mind if need to get multiple books but the more each encompasses the better. Cheers. I havn't seen to much about crystals so hopefully this thread can help others as well.

Oh by the way as a amusing or disrespectful aside (depending on your demeanor), i bought a crystal quartz wand with a rose quarts tip, and it looks just like a willy! There's also a free 2o something week kabbalah course still open for a week or so, google "kabbalah learning centre" if it calls to you.
This thread went a bit wibbly wobbly if ya get me bredrens but if people gonna benefit from that course, it worth a mention, cheers for attention!

Question about sending healing.

  • Posted on April 9, 2011 at 9:20 pm
I have some questions about the sending of healing of a Psychic or spiritual nature.

Is there a way to stop someone sending you healing or ward it off somehow? If you are sending healing or energy of some kind I presume there would be some kind of ethics to be aware of seeing how its supposedly for someone else's benefit?

I ask because I used to know a psychic that that had the ability to send healing of which I was a unwilling recipient. This was some time ago but looking back I am curious about the process.

Weird question about wisdom teeth but wish to know your opinion

  • Posted on January 24, 2011 at 4:52 am
Hi there,
Perhaps my question is simple and pointless, I'm conscious about that , but I want to know your opinion about it and perhaps also some of your light if you have some suggestions.

Firstly (you have doubts of that) I come here because I seek some "magickal" and paranormal issue to my problem, because it's theoretically resolved by traditional medicine, but I want to take care of me and avoid possible complications as much as I can, and because of that I post here.

When I showed my teeth radiography to my dentist, he said me that I have to remove my both wisdom tooth and sent me to a professional stomatologist to do that.

When the stomatologist seen my radiography, he said that my wisdom teeth are wrongly positioned and during removing the lip nerve can be hurt or cut (because it's right under the wisdom tooth) which can result in temporary or even definitive lip paralysis and additional pain.
And if I decide to not remove my wisdom teeth they can destroy the nearby teeth and cause additional problems.
It appears to be a question of chance for my lip nerve to be hurt or not.
And I don't like to play games like that because I have already some health problems and want to avoid to do a collection of them....

Actually, I don't have any pain around my wisdom teeth and it seems that they're stable for now and don't started to destroy anything for moment. So the removing seems to be more likely in the preventive goal, but I don't know enough to affirm that.

But the point is: I don't have any pain in my wisdom teeth for moment and they want to remove my wisdom teeth in a likely preventive goal, but removing is risky because my lips can be hurt during "inaccurate" removing.

My question:
Is there exist some "magick" ways to definitively stop the development and growth of my wisdom teeth before they start to destroy they nearby teeth ?
And by stopping their development and growth avoiding the risky surgery ?

As I wrote in the beginning, I'm conscious that my question can be stupid, but who knows, perhaps "miracles" exist ?

And if you have some others suggestions about my situation, don't hesitate !

Thank you for reading !
Hope to have some answers
Have a great day and sorry for my poor english,
Cheers.

SecuriTee Blanket spell!

  • Posted on December 29, 2010 at 12:55 pm
January 2nd, 2011: Jupiter and Uranus will conjoin. (@ exactly 3:41 EST, but that's minutia)

I propose we all get as many people as we can involved to contribute to a global, mass-protection working!

The basic premise is simple: Too many, especially travellers and the young, are afflicted with intrusive/toxic/unwelcome influences, often human but also spirits and Psyjunk. The aforementioned disrespectful vermin are hereby dubbed "Spam."

So, why not let's create a filter? I had originally planned to use the borders.com/O'Reilly Tshirts with raining pigs and umbrella, but apparently they don't make it anymore.

So I'm going with a simpler design, one that can be found, bought and printed all over the world. This is the symbol, the T Shirt is not needed but it helps (more useful later, as armor.)

Zazzle has 'em, among many places.

As for the Rite itself, anything goes. I would suggest working with beings like Gula, Kwan Yin, Durga, Kali, Jord, Septu, Serquet, Shed, Tutu, Naberius, Glasya Labolas, Jizo, Bhairava and even Dumbledore.

The Sephiroth Chesod could be invoked, as could any protective influence.

Or just use your own power, Chaote style! No invocation needed!

[Article] Just Breathe: Body Has A Built-In Stress Reliever

  • Posted on December 6, 2010 at 5:54 pm
There are plenty of ways to relieve stress — exercise, a long soak in a hot bath, or even a massage. But believe it or not, something you're doing right now, probably without even thinking about it, is a proven stress reliever: breathing.

As it turns out, deep breathing is not only relaxing, it's been scientifically proven to affect the heart, the brain, digestion, the immune system — and maybe even the expression of genes.

Mladen Golubic, a physician in the Cleveland Clinic's Center for Integrative Medicine, says that breathing can have a profound impact on our physiology and our health.

Food and Healing

  • Posted on November 18, 2010 at 10:56 pm
I have adapted a new philosophy(for me anyways). Magic is said to be a tool used to achieve a goal. Some paths tell you that you should look to the world for answers before employing magic to gain an end result. It is said that this is to expel confusion and bad results for if you honestly want something you will do anything in your power to get it on your own(self-reliance) before asking for assistance from another including the none material world.

So I adapt this because I believe in that principle:
  • Be kind to your body.
  • You are your first line of defense in this world.
  • Utilize the Earth's life to aid healing.
  • Use your food as a prophylactic(preventative medicine).
  • Avoid pesticide and GMO foods because they contradict the last statement.
  • Seek whole body wellness(Body, Mind, and Spirit).
  • Seek a shoulder to cry on and let others cry on your shoulder.
  • Let laughter be your best friend.
  • Use Herbs before pharmaceuticals and over the counter drugs.
  • Be honest with yourself and others.
  • Do not say anything to yourself you would not say to others.
  • Do not say anything to yourself you would be mad at others for saying.
  • Forgive but do not repress.
  • Remove negative energies from your life it probably is shortening your life and making you unhappy.
  • Learn as much as you can from the world and seek enlightenment.
  • Use magic to assist in accomplishing this goal.

What I want to speak about is our food and what it does to our bodies. I will be brief because it is a topic I have taken classes on and have many classes to take on in the future. There is so much to know.

A. Growing your own foods.
B. Voting for corporate companies.
C. History of pesticides.
D. Nutrition
E. Healing
F. Conclusion

Summery: Growing your own foods prevents the intake of pesticides that kill bugs. Pesticides where originally developed to destroy humans. The quality of organics, home grown, and raw foods are not in its size but in its nutrition value. Making changes to your nutrition intake can effect your health. Eating healthy can heal you from the inside out.

A. Growing your own foods gives you room to know what you are eating is top quality and nutrition packed. There is no way around that. You still don't know if what you buy at Farmers Market and Whole Foods is top quality but growing your own food gives you all the knowledge of how your food is treated from the moment it was a seed to the moment it sits steaming on your plate.

B. Millions if not billions of dollars are spent by consumers supporting wealthy food industries each year. Each dollar we spend on their food is another vote towards keeping the system as it is. The current system is animal cruelty, fraud, and murder. Animals live in terrible conditions comparable to that of the holocaust quarters. They are put in homes were they are fed horrible food including remains of their diseased dead and plastic pieces as fillers. Hundreds are cramped into an area meant for maybe a hundred. The companies don't want to label our foods as GMO(Genetically modified), cloned, painted, etc. They want to change things like High Fructose Corn Syrup to Corn Sugar to hide its bad reputation behind a new face. Additionally they do not protect their own workers and expose them to pesticides and other dangerous chemicals as well as have little care for people, including children, that die from their careless work environment. So with each dollar we spend on their companies is only a vote for them to keep their current system in tact.

C. What are pesticides? Pesticides are currently known for their ability to kill bugs but let me tell you this. Bugs have practically the same nervous systems that we have and pesticides attack the nervous system. Pesticide was also developed in WWII for biochemical warfare to assist us in killing human beings. So we put them on our food? To me that does not seem very logical. Imagine finding a bug on your celery, it is dead and laying upside down, now consider the original purpose of pesticides and the nervous system of bugs, now conclude what that is doing to our bodies.

D. Cost and Nutrition go hand in hand. Market food is cheaper because it is not as nutritionally dense as organics. Nutrition Density is a set percentage we use to determine how much nutrition you get per calorie. In Market food that is no where near the amount you get with a dense organic produce. What does that mean? It means that the organic food has more vitamins, minerals, and other things your body needs to survive. Plus it doesn't have those nerve killing pesticides in them. Bigger isn't better when it comes to produce and that seems to be what market industries are after. Look at color and texture when selecting your food and above all else the taste.

E. It is only natural that our foods heal us. We have a symbiotic relationship with the planet. At least we did at some point in time. Eating nutritional food keeps our bodies in balance by giving us the ability to fight off pathologies that get us and keep us ill. With out food we would die and with bad food we would die sooner than we would with great food that may prolong our lives.

Conclusion- Let food be your guide. Listen to your instincts and learn all you can from our Earth. The spirits in this world have much to tell us about the world we live in.

Beginner’s question

It's my first post here, so hello everyone. I was wondering if it's possible to cure something like that with magickal practice: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alopecia_areata

I'm 22 and totally bald since around 5 years. It doesn't really bother me, but if there's a way to change it, I'll gladly try. How would you go about that kind of disease? Any input will be appreciated :)

[Article] lies, damned lies, and medical research

  • Posted on November 1, 2010 at 8:01 pm
interesting article...

Quote:

“I assumed that everything we physicians did was basically right, but now I was going to help verify it,” he says. “All we’d have to do was systematically review the evidence, trust what it told us, and then everything would be perfect.”

It didn’t turn out that way. In poring over medical journals, he was struck by how many findings of all types were refuted by later findings. Of course, medical-science “never minds” are hardly secret. And they sometimes make headlines, as when in recent years large studies or growing consensuses of researchers concluded that mammograms, colonoscopies, and PSA tests are far less useful cancer-detection tools than we had been told; or when widely prescribed antidepressants such as Prozac, Zoloft, and Paxil were revealed to be no more effective than a placebo for most cases of depression; or when we learned that staying out of the sun entirely can actually increase cancer risks; or when we were told that the advice to drink lots of water during intense exercise was potentially fatal; or when, last April, we were informed that taking fish oil, exercising, and doing puzzles doesn’t really help fend off Alzheimer’s disease, as long claimed. Peer-reviewed studies have come to opposite conclusions on whether using cell phones can cause brain cancer, whether sleeping more than eight hours a night is healthful or dangerous, whether taking aspirin every day is more likely to save your life or cut it short, and whether routine angioplasty works better than pills to unclog heart arteries.

But beyond the headlines, Ioannidis was shocked at the range and reach of the reversals he was seeing in everyday medical research. “Randomized controlled trials,” which compare how one group responds to a treatment against how an identical group fares without the treatment, had long been considered nearly unshakable evidence, but they, too, ended up being wrong some of the time. “I realized even our gold-standard research had a lot of problems,” he says. Baffled, he started looking for the specific ways in which studies were going wrong. And before long he discovered that the range of errors being committed was astonishing: from what questions researchers posed, to how they set up the studies, to which patients they recruited for the studies, to which measurements they took, to how they analyzed the data, to how they presented their results, to how particular studies came to be published in medical journals.

This array suggested a bigger, underlying dysfunction, and Ioannidis thought he knew what it was. “The studies were biased,” he says. “Sometimes they were overtly biased. Sometimes it was difficult to see the bias, but it was there.” Researchers headed into their studies wanting certain results—and, lo and behold, they were getting them. We think of the scientific process as being objective, rigorous, and even ruthless in separating out what is true from what we merely wish to be true, but in fact it’s easy to manipulate results, even unintentionally or unconsciously. “At every step in the process, there is room to distort results, a way to make a stronger claim or to select what is going to be concluded,” says Ioannidis. “There is an intellectual conflict of interest that pressures researchers to find whatever it is that is most likely to get them funded.”

Perhaps only a minority of researchers were succumbing to this bias, but their distorted findings were having an outsize effect on published research. To get funding and tenured positions, and often merely to stay afloat, researchers have to get their work published in well-regarded journals, where rejection rates can climb above 90 percent. Not surprisingly, the studies that tend to make the grade are those with eye-catching findings. But while coming up with eye-catching theories is relatively easy, getting reality to bear them out is another matter. The great majority collapse under the weight of contradictory data when studied rigorously. Imagine, though, that five different research teams test an interesting theory that’s making the rounds, and four of the groups correctly prove the idea false, while the one less cautious group incorrectly “proves” it true through some combination of error, fluke, and clever selection of data. Guess whose findings your doctor ends up reading about in the journal, and you end up hearing about on the evening news? Researchers can sometimes win attention by refuting a prominent finding, which can help to at least raise doubts about results, but in general it is far more rewarding to add a new insight or exciting-sounding twist to existing research than to retest its basic premises—after all, simply re-proving someone else’s results is unlikely to get you published, and attempting to undermine the work of respected colleagues can have ugly professional repercussions.

Reichian Therapy

I know the number of people out there who are qualified to practice Reichian therapy are pretty low out there today, but has anyone on the forum been able to partake in this? I haven't personally, but have been intrigued by it for years. Isreal Regardie reccomened the therapy for all practicioners of the occult so I did a bit of study on the therapy and Willhelm Reich and found the information to be interesting. I think I read an interview with Grant Morrison once about a deep tissue massage that he recieved from a practicioner that released some repressed fears and memories but that's about all I've heard about it. Does anyone have any info or experiences that they would like to share about it?

Cure for energy vampirism?

  • Posted on October 16, 2010 at 2:30 pm
When people emit negative emotions, I feed off of it. It's not just simple schadenfreude, I'm always fatigued, and until I feel these emotions I'm always tired. Are there any ways I can remove this? I've been this way ever since I lived in a severely haunted house in England (That had a lot of demons I battled with) and now I disgust myself, how I feel relief when others are sad. What can I do? What exactly is it I have? It's not a mental condition either, as I can actually 'feel' the energy. It is like the sound of when a tv is on, that faint buzz of electricity or whatever, and I crave it. Any spells or cures?

[Article] elder care, 500,000 years ago

  • Posted on October 12, 2010 at 1:54 pm

Quote:

Analysis of the fossils indicates the male Homo heidelbergensis was over age 45 and suffered from a spinal deformity that would have caused him a lot of pain and forced him to stoop over. It's not clear how much older than 45 he was. The researcher, however, are certain that he was elderly based on his remains.

"He possibly used a cane, just as a modern elderly person does," Bonmati said. "This individual may not have been an active hunter and was impaired to carry heavy loads, thus an important source of his food would depend on other members of the group, which would mean sharing."

As a senior, the individual would have had expertise in finding food and more, the researchers suspected, so he must have been a valuable contributor to his group. As a result, the male may also provide some of the world's first evidence for compassion and cooperation among early humans.

"We wouldn't say that he was a burden to his group, but rather that this was a greatly socialized group with solidarity bonds between individuals," Bonmati said.

Homo heidelbergensis had a large brain and certain anatomy, such as a highly developed inner ear, he explained. These features suggest this species had some form of spoken language that would have helped to bond individuals together.

The findings come on the heels of yet another new study, published in the journal Time and Mind, which describes the discovered remains of a Neanderthal child with a congenital brain abnormality who was not abandoned, but instead lived until the about age five or six.

When the spirit is weak but the soul is strong: What would you do?

I was wondering, given our unique little community here, what would you do if your loved one was tethered to a body by its weakened spirit. Would you kill them (or whatever euphemism you're happy with) so they could move on in to the Afterlife?

What if it was you who was trapped?

Limpia or Spiritual Cleansing

  • Posted on October 5, 2010 at 7:37 am
In my practice, I employ a wide range of techniques in order to perform limpias, or spiritual cleansings. I usually begin a cleansing by passing a raw egg over a person's body and then crack the egg into a glass of water and read it. Then I pour alcohol, vinegar, and holy water to "burn" the resulting garbage. It is believed that the negativity that was absorbed by the egg will leave you and will remain in the egg ready for disposal. I usually follow this by hitting the person or client with a bundle of leaves soaked in florida water and holy water in order to cleanse the aura. I then blow tobacco smoke and waft sage smoke on a person's body, to get rid of negative vibrations as well as attract good spirits. This is usually followed by moving a votive candle of San Simon Judas on the client's body and then carving a pentagram or triangle on the top of the candle and also dress the candle with oil the kind depending on what the situation calls for. I also put spiritual water and vinegar on the head (which takes away headaches perfectly).

Then I unwrap my medicine bundle which includes a sea shell to represent Tlaloc, four stones that represent the four Tezcatlipocas that created the universe, a small bag with maize, beans, and amethyst quartz crystals (for divination and communication with Cipactonal, the first man, first diviner, first nahualli, first priest of the aztec pantheon. I also carry a wand dedicated to the Cihuateteo, spirits of disease (which help me cure and diagnose illnesses). Also, there are the twelve quartz crystal and double terminated quartz crystal I use for aura cleansings by placing twelve crystal around the body and manipulating their energy with the double pointed quartz used all over the body. After unwrapping the medicine bundle, I usually make an offering to San Simon of tortillas, cane alcohol called aguardiente, an handkerchief, a few coins, and a cup of water, along with his candle. I do his prayer for the person and make the person light the candle with wooden matchsticks and hold the candle until the flame touches the wax.

This is the usually followed up by a shamanic journey to retrieve a power animal for the person or find their spiritual guide from higher dimensions of existence. Also soul retrieval and curing intrusions by suction. What I was wondering is what are your general techniques when trying to heal a person. Are there any basic formulas you use in your practice as healer, or are there more specific, specialized techniques that you use. Thanks in advance.

Yours in the struggle,
--Teopiltzin.

Help me with the anger please.

  • Posted on September 20, 2010 at 5:34 pm
I come to ask this of you

TL;DR?

I have a lot of pent up negative thoughts an emotions, a lot of stresses, i need some methods of dispelling them and bringing some mental peace and balance.

-
Over the past few months i have found myself giving over to short, sharp fits of anger, some which are impossible to contain, i have ended up lashing out and being moody with my collegues and family or not being talkative and generally finding myself acting a royal prick. This is the worst case scenario, in better timnes i find myself grinding my teeth or muttering under my breath, but one thing is clear i have a lot of pent up anger.

I feel oversensitive and unable to let go, things from my past , the petty, unimportant things are cropping up in my head of heads constantly and i feel very tormented by my inability to keep these thoughts at bay for a lasting period of time. The inner conflict is begining to affect my magickal work.

This isn't all the time mind you, but almost daily, i think it's due to the stresses of A levels combined with the worry of other, more mundane outside problems. I have tried a few positive and self help guides and a small number of rather undiverse meditations and to my releif, they work, but only for a short while. I think i need to exersize some self control. And this is why i'm doing this thing.

Can any of you pass on tome some methods of dispelling anger and letting go of the past? or some practises that might help me get some inner peace? I would also be very grateful.

2000 yr old pills: greek medicine shipwreck

  • Posted on September 10, 2010 at 4:05 pm
Quote:

In 130 BC, a ship fashioned from the wood of walnut trees and bulging with medicines and Syrian glassware sank off the coast of Tuscany, Italy. Archaeologists found its precious load 20 years ago and now, for the first time, archaeobotanists have been able to examine and analyse pills that were prepared by the physicians of ancient Greece.

DNA analyses show that each millennia-old tablet is a mixture of more than 10 different plant extracts, from hibiscus to celery.

"For the first time, we have physical evidence of what we have in writing from the ancient Greek physicians Dioscorides and Galen," says Alain Touwaide of the Smithsonian Institution's National Museum of Natural History in Washington DC.

The box of pills was discovered on the wreck in 1989, with much of the medicine still completely dry, according to Robert Fleischer of the Smithsonian's National Zoological Park, also in Washington DC.
nice work, yet again from the archaeologists!!

advanced cancer psilocybin research

  • Posted on September 8, 2010 at 3:54 pm
Quote:

A pilot study suggests the hallucinogen psilocybin may be feasible and safe to administer to patients with advanced-stage cancer and anxiety, with promising effects on mood, according to a report published online today that will appear in the January 2011 print issue of Archives of General Psychiatry, one of the JAMA/Archives journals.

"In recent years, there has been a growing awareness that the psychological, spiritual and existential crises often encountered by patients with cancer and their families need to be addressed more vigorously," the authors write as background information in the article. "From the late 1950s to the early 1970s, research was carried out exploring the use of hallucinogens to treat the existential anxiety, despair and isolation often associated with advanced-stage cancer. Those studies described critically ill individuals undergoing psychospiritual epiphanies, often with powerful and sustained improvement in mood and anxiety as well as diminished need for narcotic pain medication."

Despite initial promising results, no follow-up research had been conducted; however, the medical value of hallucinogens is now being re-examined in psychiatric settings, the authors note. Charles S. Grob, M.D., of Harbor-UCLA Medical Center and Los Angeles Biomedical Research Institute, Torrance, explored the safety and efficacy of psilocybin—a hallucinogen with some psychological effects similar to lysergic acid diethylamide (LSD)—among 12 adults with advanced-stage cancer and anxiety.

proximal intercessory prayer shown to heal

  • Posted on September 1, 2010 at 3:03 pm
interesting study...

Quote:

Prayer heals when it’s close-up and personal, according to a study carried out in Mozambique by doctors, scientists and a religion professor.
It’s not just any kind of prayer, but “proximal intercessory prayer,” or PIP — when one or more people pray for someone in that person’s presence and often with physical contact — that was found to help heal some patients with hearing and visual problems.
http://www.nation.co.ke/News/world/P...z/-/index.html

Quote:

What are scientifically minded physicians to make of such accounts? The placebo effect immediately comes to mind, although the scant literature on the use of suggestion to improve vision and hearing does not explain the improvements found. Could observer bias? This is difficult to eliminate, though Heidi Baker as a woman with a doctorate in theology who has worked for years among the very poor does not fit the stereotype of a self-aggrandizing televangelist. Other naturalistic explanations are possible, since the nature of the vision and hearing impairments is unknown. One would want to learn whether these findings can be replicated by others, and better understood with time.

The Mozambique ministry team and the individuals for whom they prayed presumably believe in a supernatural basis for their healing. Is this possibility inadmissable on scientific grounds? Scientists can and should rigorously question any purported mysterious healing, and scrutinize any proposed mediating mechanism. But the conviction that we live in a closed system governed only by naturalistic processes is an expression of faith in a world view rather than a conclusion logically demanded by the scientific method. While the secular world view is characteristic of our age5 it is by no means shared by all scientists.6 This paper's authors neither ask readers directly to consider a supernatural explanation for these unexplained findings nor assert that they are predictable, but their report challenges the world view of readers who rule out the supernatural, or relegate it to another time.

making antibiotics, 2000 yrs earlier than thought

  • Posted on September 1, 2010 at 2:55 pm
hah! i always knew beer was a noble beverage, lol

Quote:

A chemical analysis of the bones of ancient Nubians showed they were regularly consuming tetracycline, most likely in their beer.

The finding is the strongest evidence yet that the art of making antibiotics, which officially dates to the discovery of penicillin in 1928, was common practice nearly 2,000 years ago.

...

The first of the modern day tetracyclines was discovered in 1948. It was given the name auereomycin, after the Latin word “aerous,” which means containing gold.

“Streptomyces produce a golden colony of bacteria, and if it was floating on a batch of beer, it must have look pretty impressive to ancient people who revered gold,” Nelson theorizes.

The ancient Egyptians and Jordanians used beer to treat gum disease and other ailments, Armelagos says, adding that the complex art of fermenting antibiotics was probably widespread in ancient times, and handed down through generations.

Prayer: Money Problems

  • Posted on July 21, 2010 at 11:51 pm
1.

So my boyfriend has a debt worked up from school loans and loans taken out to assist in medical procedures that saved his life. He owes a lot of money because of these events and is suffering financially because of it. He can't afford the minimum payments and will be paying the rest of his life with the amount he owes and their is little I can do about it at this point in my life. I am going to personally assist him in any way I can physically, emotionally, and magickally but fI would like to ask for everyone to pray and cast on the situation and even lend advice.

2.

I am job searching so that I can afford my life and so I can move forward in it. I just applied for 5 different massage therapy jobs and I'm asking for prayer and magickal assistance in getting the job.

Thank you,

ARS
