By now you must notice my not-so secret obsession with black and white stripes. I prefer my stripes to be chunky and evenly sized, though if I do have to choose the black or the white stripes to be thicker I prefer the white. While searching for the perfect tops the other day I went a little overboard and ended up finding pants, skirts, dresses, bags, shoes and even kids clothing in black and white stripes.

Here’s my interview with Bruce Sterling and Vernor Vinge on augmented reality in the workplace. Bruce, Vernor and several others will be speaking at are2011 May 17-18.
I told Sterling and Vinge that I thought that apart from gaming, AR would be most useful to professionals. Yet the only widespread use of AR that I could think of outside of gaming and marketing is in the military. I asked Sterling and Vinge whether they thought AR would be more useful in the civilian workplace than in consumer technology. “The consumer coverage hasn’t covered the most important applications in that domain either,” Vinge said. “AR will be enormously useful in both domains, with the consumer end providing social acceptance and product pricing to further encourage workplace changes.”
Sterling pointed out that “Every medium in a capitalist society has ‘marketing gimmicks.’ TV, cinema, Internet, newspapers, recorded music, even sci-fi novels have gimmicks. Even if AR gets terrifically good at doing something more serious, those marketing gimmicks are not going away.”
Sterling also emphasized that AR needn’t be a stand-alone industry. There’s room for many technologies that apply the general idea of AR.

There are lots of articles and essays of interest to modern Pagans out there, sometimes more than I can write about_in-depth_in any given week. So_The Wild Hunt must_unleash the hounds in order to round them all up. We have two new high-profile endorsements for_Pagan Coming Out Day on_May 2nd._The first from T. Thorn Coyle who [...]

I'm starting this thread so we can tell stories about encounters with magical/energetic artifacts and compare notes.
Here are a few of mine:
I once saw an exhibit of many quartz lingam stones and found them to be heavily "charged" with what can only describe as peace and love. It was impossible to walk into that room and not feel like a hippy (in a good way).
There's a rock-crystal reliquary in the shape of an arm in the Walters museum that had a very heavy crusader sort of vibe. It did not like me.
Also there is a reliquary in the form of "the man of sorrows" and I swear to Jeebus I think someone sealed something horriblein there. It is stuck, and it is angry (and impotent as far as I can tell, although it did make me uncomfortable).
Overall, about 20% of the reliquaries there showed up on my radar.
I've also had some really fun times in mesoamerican exhibits. Xipe Totec masks- why yes, they do feel about like you'd expect :D The rate of "magic thingy" vs "thingy" in those tends to be closer to 40%.

Another important color in a goth’s wardrobe is grey. Ranging from the palest near-white shades all the way to the deepest almost-blacks, grey is an extremely versatile shade. Consider grey to be another basic color in your palette, especially during the warmer months of the year.

Daphne Guinness and Victoria Beckham, as strange as that may sound I find them both very inspiring when it comes to style.

My post on Wednesday talking about the anti-Pagan bigotry of Jacksonville, Florida City Council candidate_Kimberly Daniels has sparked quite a bit of shock, outrage, and discussion. One_reoccurring_question is how did Daniels end up on the Democratic ticket, and make it to a run-off, when she held rather retrograde views on gays and non-Christians. “Is this [...]

News today which upsets the stereotype of teenagers who spend a lot of time online or otherwise fooling with computers: rather than being lonely dorks with poor social skills who seldom leave their bedrooms, such kids are in fact more likely to get squiffy, have sex and even to take drugs than their less tech-savvy peers.
The revelations come in research conducted lately in Canada among 10 to 16-year-olds by epidemiology PhD candidate Valerie Carson.

I have read this and see many Sumer/Aryan elements and in light of what has been discovered about The ancient Babylonian/Summerian thought sense the late 70's I have been giving it some more credit. Not to mention the spiritual encounters and guidance I have been getting from Destra who claims the identity of Ishtar and Astarte line up with these writings. I would like to know what knowledge you all have on this as far as the real validity and origins of it that might not be readily known from the commentary and introductions in the book and say places like wikipedia. These of which I have already explored. I am sure someone out there has more detailed knowledge.
