Another entertaining video about how we are are all seduced by the dark side and pawns of Satan. *sigh* When will regular culture stop living in the Dark Ages, where magic is of the Devil, and astrologers, magicians, witches, alchemists, and necromancers, are all people who have sold their soul to the Devil for occult knowlege and powers? If only it was that simple, immortal soul for adcanced knowlege and supernatural powers, sure Satan, sounds like a trade. Real occultism is hard work.
I have a special editorial up at the Washington Post’s On Faith section about the religiously-motivated firing of Pagans, and the case of Carole A. Smith, who was seemingly fired from the TSA for her_adherence_to Wicca. What happened to Carole A. Smith is, sadly, all too common a story for many pagans. Smith, a TSA [...]
There are lots of articles and essays of interest to modern Pagans out there, sometimes more than I can write about_in-depth_in any given week. So_The Wild Hunt must_unleash the hounds in order to round them all up. Are feminists less religious? Amazing map of the history of science fiction, from its fantasy origins in Gilgamesh to modern mainstream television with stops along the way for gothic novels, Frankenstein, H.G. Wells, Olaf Stapledon, cyberpunk and so much more.
This comes from the Mapping Science website, but I haven’t been able to find an entry for it there.
(I saw this all over the place, but special thanks to Ian for finally getting me to take a look)

The first superhero comic ever published, Action Comics #1 in 1938, introduced the world to something both unprecedented and profoundly familiar: Superman, a caped god for the modern age. In a matter of years, the skies of the imaginary world were filled with strange mutants, aliens, and vigilantes: Batman, Wonder Woman, the Fantastic Four, Captain Marvel, Iron Man, and the X-Men—the list of names is as familiar as our own. In less than a century they’ve gone from not existing at all to being everywhere we look: on our movie and television screens, in our videogames and dreams. But why?
For Grant Morrison, possibly the greatest of contemporary superhero storytellers, these heroes are not simply characters but powerful archetypes whose ongoing, decades-spanning story arcs reflect and predict the course of human existence: Through them, we tell the story of ourselves. In this exhilarating book, Morrison draws on history, art, mythology, and his own astonishing journeys through this alternate universe to provide the first true chronicle of the superhero—why they matter, why they will always be with us, and what they tell us about who we are.
It’s now available for pre-order. No cover art yet, though.
Alright I think it's about time I got this launched. Here is the basic idea behind this thread:
We all know that in esoterica, there are many different systems of beliefs, and those systems in turn affect the practices related to it, and those practices therefore bring about different results, or rather different variations of the same result.
If we were to take the etheric body for instance (what this thread will be dedicated to), the way the pathways and concentrating energy points are laid out vary greatly from one system to another, be it Yogic, Daoist, Golden Dawn, etc... I believe that they're all right, because the energy pathways can be created more or less during the paractice, although there must be some general tendency that already exists within the etheric body.
Therefore why don't we give our experiences on how we relate to these various systems and what they enable us to accomplish? I believe that if we do that, a certain pattern will emerge, that will enable us to map out a different and perhaps much more accurate view of the etheric body, what can be accomplished with it, and how it relates to the other vehicles of man. From there we can derive the best knowledge of HOW to empower the etheric body, therefore we'll essentially be mapping out a new energy system that will take in all the advantages of the existing ones. I believe it can be done.
Whatever visualisations, chakra associations and correspondences you use while working with you etheric body are welcome, as well as the effects and impressions immediately after working with it, and the long-term effects that you think have resulted in working with your etheric body in that particular way.
But I don't think it should end there. I think that what we should be doing is checking this thread regularly to try and integrate what other people have posted, and trying to work with it to see if it somehow enhances whatever system we're already using. I believe we could learn a lot that way.
I hop this thread will be the first in a long series. I plan on creating similar threads for magical systems and beliefs, astral experiences, and a whole lot more.
I need some time to map out the way I use my etheric body so I'll post it later, as I've preety much been trying different systems in a rather random manner, so categorizing might be a bit difficult at this point. Plus my fingers hurt. :p
“I’m in love with all of them,” said Louis Smith, 28, a lanky drummer from Williamsburg. Five minutes later, he had bought a dark blue 1968 Smith Corona Galaxie II for $150. “It’s about permanence, not being able to hit delete,” he explained. “You have to have some conviction in your thoughts. And that’s my whole philosophy of typewriters.”
Whether he knew it or not, Mr. Smith had joined a growing movement. Manual typewriters aren’t going gently into the good night of the digital era. The machines have been attracting fresh converts, many too young to be nostalgic for spooled ribbons, ink-smudged fingers and corrective fluid. And unlike the typists of yore, these folks aren’t clacking away in solitude. [...]
That doesn’t make them Luddites. For many younger typewriter users, the old technology rests comfortably beside the new. Matt Cidoni, 16, of East Brunswick, N.J., keeps a picture of his favorite machine, a Royal No. 10, on his iPod Touch so he can show it off to friends. Online, he is a proud member of the “typosphere,” a global community of typewriter geeks. Like many of them, he enjoys “typecasting,” or tapping out typewritten messages, which he scans and posts to his Web site, Adventures in Typewriterdom. One of his favorite typecasting blogs, Strikethru, is run by a Microsoft employee. In Mr. Cidoni’s world view, there’s nothing technologically inconsistent about such things.

Spirituality began in a complex form.
Depending on what strand of historical facts you believe: God of Abraham and Issac reveals himself to Adam and Eve, Ancient Sumerians were astrologers, astronomers, cuneiform, complex religious system, Ancient Greeks with philosophy and mystery schools, Atlantis known for its magick power.
Mankind did not begin as a "caveman". These early strands of spirituality allowed communion with the 7 planetary deities and other higher spirits. These early forms also addressed many of the same spirits but each group had a different name.
After Aristotle and the Epicureans, Scientific thinking began to kill the mystery schools. Now Shamanisim and other arts which could only converse with more minor spirits quickly increased. Mankind experienced a spiritual dark age with the new powerful religion of Science. Later the Christian church distorted Jesus' and the Old Testaments teachings in a social/political power grab.
In the modern age humans are disillusioned about spirituality. The scientific religion reigns and the Abrahamic faiths are at war. Modern occultists see paradigms as completely separate when in fact they are all related in some way. It is no coincidence that every religion teaches that early man began as being educated by spirits. It is no coincidence that every religion has astrological aspects.
It must be extremely rare (unheard of to myself) that people are able to contact and converse with powerful ancient "gods" and high spirit forms. In our modern age the Key of Solomon is regarded as one of the most powerful occult books and it only explains how to converse with minor spirits "demons". Likewise Order of the Golden Dawn teachings draw on the ancient Egyptian gods but the spirits you encounter are minor ones.
The mystery schools which taught orally and had harrowing initiations are gone. The secret societies of today are losing touch with their occult roots and trying to gain material power. There is nothing wrong with science or religion and they are not opposite or enemies. The "religion of science (atheism, apathy)" and the "organized religions (giant corporate churches)" are enemies of any person with spiritual awareness.
Spirituality was a personal matter between a man and the spirits. Humans had this experience in common once. Please try see the transparency in your paradigm.
So, I've noticed a dramatic shift in mindset lately. I feel at times as though I can almost laugh at the insignificance of the power of masses in comparison to what I know I will one day become: Godly.
I also had what seemed like three or four results pop up in one morning. I've been working with the qlippoth, particularly Nahemoth, but the night of my first major Nahemoth/Malkuth working, I had a dream of the mountain Aresura, and the fly Druj Nasu, and I believe a race of giant tan creatures which may have been nephilem. I didn't know what any of these were until I realized the dream may have had meaning and decided to read Michael W Fords books.
In addition, I learned of energy vampirism in ritual work (which two of my results were based off of- the other was a hookup rite done with lilith) and from physical contact. I am also aware of my developing ability to feel energy in the form of energetic tingles.
I'd like to thank the OC for helping me this year and a half or so in my practice.
I live with my BF and his mum is just a pure nightmare.:!:
She is screaming at me (and at him too actually)
all the time, calling me names,
asking me to do stuff and when I finish it she yells at me again
(for doing it wrong or whatever)
If it would be legal, I woud chop her head off,
but as that would lead me into some trouble,
hmm...would you have some ideas how to deal with such an nightmarish situation?
(it goes for months already)
Kind of a primitive picture, but shows the Kabbalah and the Qlippoth, making 5 spheres for each element, 20 total. The Light based elements Fire and Air being the Tree of Life, and the Dark based elements being the Tree of Death, or Shadow, or roots of the tree.
If you take in Akasha, each sphere could read for example, Akasha of Fire, Fire of Fire (pure Fire), Fire of Air, Fire of Earth, Fire of Water, etc. So make a complete subelemental set, with Ain Soph Aur representing Akasha pure or mixed with the essences of the 4 elements preexisting as making up the whole of Akasha before being broken (divided, dualism), into the 4 proper elements, thus making a system of 25, but only 20 spheres.
2 Dualism and 5 (all elements as one so making akasha) Nondualism. The whole of existence.
Anyway just another idea of mine, VIRAL or someone who is a good artist feel free to make a portrait of this. With the tree actually alive, instead of barren, and the seperoth of the Kabbalah and Qlippoth actually colored to their respective spheres, with only the colored elemental signs denoting each "zone." Would be cool.
