My Halloween has been wacky and not filled with much in the way of traditional celebration. (Though my husband and I did partake in what we’re calling “Fail Carve 2010” followed by watching a Uwe Boll film.)

This post I put up yesterday has some other tips for celebrating Halloween.

[Mind Control] Turning?

  • Posted on October 31, 2010 at 6:59 pm
So many vampire films & dramas lately. This new influx no doubt inspired by damnable Twilight Rage. I'm not a fan of any except one "Being Human" and thats only because its British.

This thread is about the concept of "Turning" which exists not only in stories of Vampire but of Werewolfs and of Zombies

I wonder how the concept of Turning would affect someones magickal practice, make no mistake I'm not looking to be transformed into a feriocious furry or a dead guy. I'm more talking about influencing someone over to your side. So this thread may be a bit about NLP as well.

What I'm really interested in discussing is the Physical aspect of this. Turning requires the predator to make a physical contact to the Victim (a bite on the jagular from the vampire or a scratch from another werewolf.)

Would this technique have a strong impact on the psyche of both the Turner and the turned?

To clarify I will define Turning as

"To impose a characteristic of oneself onto another via the process of leaving a physical scar unto the receivers body"

In Fiction, the example would be of vampires and werewolfs
Whereas in Reality, the example would be turning people into, lets say "Mini-Yous"

Turning could be classified under a mix of Sympathy & Direct Magick along with a dose of NLP or such.

Discuss Pros & Cons of different methods on how to "turn"

Sorry, If it seem like I rambled on about senseless things alot there thats because well I pretty much did.

Why do we lose so many new members so quickly?

  • Posted on October 31, 2010 at 4:27 pm
Hi all,

One thing I've always wondered is why so many people post an intro thread and then disappear, never to be heard from again. Why do we seemingly lose so many new members so quickly? I'm hoping some of the newer members may know, like if its because people are scared to have their ideas debated, if they feel like they don't have anything to contribute, or if there's something missing here that's needed in order to generate more traffic from new people?

High-Quality Images of the Enochian Tablets?

  • Posted on October 31, 2010 at 1:10 pm
Does anyone perchance have a set of high-quality images of the Enochian Tablets?

I was planning to have them professionally printed on large cardstock, but have not yet been able to find suitably high-quality images in order to do so. I was hoping that some kind soul might be able to direct me to such images. :)

Thank you and take care,
Adam

I just tried Absinthe for the first time.

  • Posted on October 31, 2010 at 9:44 am
Besides it being tasty I noticed a slight change in my perceptions. I did a ritual and afterwards I tried some. Now my question is, can one somewhat weak glass of absinthe cause me to be more cheerful and the lights to shine brighter? It could have been the ritual. It does strike me like from Uncle Al said in his essay on Absinthe. Or also could it because I read about the effects and remembered it on the walk home.

And yes, I am looking to get a bottle myself so I can Try This at Home....

Tonight and tomorrow is when most modern Pagans celebrate_Samhain. Samhain is the start of winter and of the new year in the old Celtic calendar. This is a time when the ancestors are honored, divinations for the new year are performed, and festivals are held in honor of the gods. It is a time of [...]

No love for the northern ways?

  • Posted on October 30, 2010 at 8:40 am
Why is this thread so empty? Is this path not "cool" now a days? I have always been incredibly interested in the teachings of the Norse so I'm a little confused by the apparent lack of interest of others.

Also, does anyone know where this quote comes from? I was under the impression it was from the Havamal but I couldn't find it in there when I went looking.

"Wake early if you want another man's life or land. No lamb for the lazy wolf. No battle's won in bed"

Spirit Helpers

  • Posted on October 30, 2010 at 8:19 am
According to Mr. Michael Harner, the next thing the prospective shaman must do after acquiring a guardian spirit is a large crew of spirit helpers. These spirit helpers can be be of the animal, plant, or mineral family or even otherwise. How do you acquire a large crew of them and for what purposes do you employ such spirit helpers. I've heard that the collective power of a crew of spirit helpers is equivalent to one guardian spirit. The more spirit helpers, the more powerful a shaman.

I've also heard that you could gather plant spirit helpers by ingesting various non-poisonous plants. You could come to posses literally hundreds. Also by collecting and working with rock spirits. All rocks have a certain vibration that determines what effect it will have upon your consciousness and your body, particularly the spirit body, or auric cacoon (aura). Animal spirits other than your guardian spirits can also be considered spirit helpers, although one may argue that you could come to have more than one guardian spirit, but I find this difficult to believe myself.

Where do I find these spirits that I seek. What about the spirits of the dead, like ancestors, deceased shamans and otherwise. I could dream and astral project to Tlalocan and Mictlan in search of such spirits. The vast geography of the aztec spirit world is literally limitless, and is also a place big enough to get lost in. Many trials lay ahead for those who want to go into the lowerworld or celestial paradises. My guide in Mictlan, the land of the dead, is San Simon Judas or Maximon. He takes me on his canoe from the middle world plane, the ordinary mode of existence or reality, down into the underworld where we travel along the river of the dead, which is filled with potentially thousands of spirit helpers in human form.

So whether it be animal, plant, rock, or human, spirit helpers are detrimental to any working shaman that seeks to heal by invoking his helping spirits. How to work beyond this is a total mystery to me. Although I have had my share of practice in communicating with the spirit worlds, the answer to my question still eludes me. How to keep track of the many helping spirits we have. Do you go for quality or quantity that is do you get close to a small number or focus on possessing many, thus working from the sheer magnitude of the number rather than their closeness to you.

Yours in the struggle,
--Teopiltzin

Nice to meet you all

  • Posted on October 30, 2010 at 8:03 am
Hi everyone. I've been out of practice for about 4 years but lately something has compelled me to delve into it again. So far all I've done since then is dug out my old Thoth deck, done some reading, and played with energy a bit. I feel that I am still able to concentrate rather well and I get the same slight pressure or pulsing sensation over my third eye like I used to (anyone else get this?). This happens when I attempt to manipulate energy or other things regarding visualization. I think I am going to continue to do reading and work on some basic meditation. I've never really looked into Yoga but I think this may be something worth trying out. I used to be mainly into Norse magic, albeit with somewhat of an eclectic take but I think it may be time for something different.

‘Ello!

  • Posted on October 30, 2010 at 6:19 am
I've been here a few times the past few weeks, reading what I can on subjects I have never studied. They have intrigued me more and more, and so I could not resist the temptation to join. Now that I am here, I have a lot of learning to do, and I implore anyone with an opinion to weigh in and express themselves to me.

I would like to share a bit of my background, and what lead me to this post. I strongly believe the power of Change is constantly at our fingertips. This is in part due to the vast amount of Change I have experienced in my 20 years of incarnation. It has been approximately a year since I began to consciously affect Change, and about a month since my most realized magical experience.

I believe Change to be a fundamental part of our reality, for I believe we are conscious within one potential reality of our own creation, and aware at a single point along the timeline of said reality. But at each point we are redefining the reality in which we experience our existence.

I have a sense that precognition, deja vu, and dreams are the tip of our interdimensional nature, the smallest level observations which can lead to large scale hypotheses. That is, these phenomena indicate a connection to the interdimensionality of our greater self, the point of reference from which all possibilities may be realized.

If Change (Chance) is the force that guides our journey through reality, and we are partly in the dimension where any possibility can result, I believe we can affect Change and experience the reality we believe (Will) to be. Will is the capability we all contain and constantly use involuntarily in every aspect of existence, to be and to perceive and to affect that which is outside or inside of ourselves. The control of Will to affect Change is, to me, the essence of Magic.

Before a year prior to now, I believed nothing outside of what I had previously perceived to be verifiable. Initially, I was strongly opposed to any such belief. At some point, however, I decided I was instead open to the possibility of anything, but with no intentions of believing anything.

Then I began to to study. I learned more on meditation than I had ever known. I learned much on the nature of cause and effect, and heard of a seemingly infinite wealth of knowledge on the subject of mind, body and spirit, and the potential contained within. I studied patterns, and mathematics, geometry, physics and quantum... sounds and optics and aromas. Tantra, Mantra, Yantra. How brilliantly it fits together. I have made many conclusions on the subject, all of which I know to be utterly false in the truest way possible. That is, they hold little in themselves, but my Belief makes them the most powerful truths I know.

A month ago, I felt what I can only describe as Nirvana. In a moment of visualization stronger than I have ever conjured, in which the patterns of life were fully open to me, I visited God. What I saw, in what enveloped my vision in pure whiteness, was creativity at its purest. Creation. It is easier to work in metaphors, and this had already been a very recent conclusion of mine, after an incredibly meaningful day, in which the substance held behind everything as I experienced or perceived it held mind-boggling amounts of significance and deeper understanding than I had ever seen. And so, my interpretation of God came in a metaphor. The joining of sperm and egg, in fusion, creates an embryo, and such was my vision. The creative potential, within each individual, on a literal level, is contained in our germ cells, our entire created genome with the potential to become a life with the power to create in the same manner. And on a metaphorical level, it applies to every form of creativity at our fingertips. The creation of culture, of society. Of art, music, dance. Dialogue, rhetoric, storycraft, every human interaction that is an expression of our Will, a way to put emotion/creative energy/magic out into the world around us.

The day following this night of revelation was a magical one indeed. Much favored by fortune and exhaustion, I appreciated it more than I had appreciated life in a long time. And I had the power to express myself in more intricate detail than I had ever known. Other mental changes occurred from then, leading to resounding effects on my relations and lifestyle. At the very peak of this day, I was tuned into the wavelength of a very close friend I had spent much of the previous day and night with (as well as many of my days for years on end). A singular worry had had him down and smothered for a while, its negativity creeping harshly into his reality. And as it worried him, it worried me just as much. A sick sensation, but always tinged by a bright hope, the optimism which I felt for him.

But at the peak of this day, this worry darkened the world moreso than it had, working its way in with a devilish persistence. And just then, I saw what made it tick, how it needn't be any more. Seated across from him, I Willed. And what we both saw, a small, dark shadow, spider-like, appeared on his person, frightening. But it was then shaken off, shooed away. And it was gone. And the day brightened, and we breathed a beautiful sigh of relief. We had spoken nothing of the subject before, but somehow it had permeated both of us, and, as simply, it departed both of us, leaving astounding optimism in what had been a desert.

The above experience corresponds to what I believe to be my most conscious and powerful direction of Will. Unsure of what I had done, and always interested to check out something new, I stumbled upon this forum. The only articles I have read so far have been in the Chaos Magic subforum, where I've found remarkable materials in accordance with my own belief. For I believe that the panoply of paradigms share the same basic facets, expressed in a wide variety of unique and meaningful truths (that is to say, falsities). It is our connection of everything we have absorbed (constructs) to everything we know to be true (that is, Belief) that fuels the power of our Belief. Theoretically, by my estimate, one might cut out the middle man, that is, fuel Belief by direct Belief in it. An infinite feedback loop, if you will. At the heart of this, I believe, lies the potential of the maxim of Chaos, that Everything is Possible.

And so, such are my thoughts on the magical creative potential that is our being. From these, I have a strong belief that Magic is literally at our fingertips, waiting to be expressed in ANY way. And now, my final conundrum. If this is so, what to do with it? I can honestly say I have no more intention for which to affect Change. What worthy use for magical potential is there?
